**SEVERE WEATHER IS HEADED OUR WAY LATE WEEK, SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS**
SCATTERED STORMS LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY, SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY…..
After some very pleasant weather the last few days, we now turn to a stormy and unsettled pattern. A fast moving system will move through Wednesday night into Thursday bringing some scattered storms. A more powerful and complex system will move through Friday night into Saturday bringing severe weather chances.
THURSDAY:
Increasing clouds Wednesday night with showers and storms possible, mainly after midnight and into the day Thursday. Highs will top out around 75 and chance of rain will be at 60% by Thursday morning. South winds around 5 to 10 mph.
THURSDAY NIGHT:
Partly cloudy and mild with lows around 57 with light southeast winds around 5 to 10 mph.
FRIDAY:
Friday will start off mostly sunny and become windy into the afternoon with south winds at 10 to 15 mph and gusting to as high as 30 mph. Temperatures will sore to around 80 degrees which will add fuel for the storms late Friday night!
FRIDAY NIGHT:
A 80% chance of showers and storms, Some storms will be severe with potential for tornadoes and damaging winds. Temperatures will drop to around 61 degrees overnight with south winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusting as high as 40 mph or higher in storms. Use caution Friday night and have a couple of good ways to get weather alerts!
WEEKEND AND TIMING OF THE STORMS:
Storms will roll in late Friday night with the potential for strong winds and tornadoes. (More On Timing Below)
FRIDAY EVENING/SATURDAY MORNING OUTLOOK:
This will likely be a longer duration event as we are going to see a powerful upper level trough slowly move through the area with two main waves of high winds which will be over a period of a couple of days. The first wave will be around Friday evening and with temperatures in the upper 70s on Friday afternoon, It want take much for storms to get going. While the image below doesn’t look as mean for FRIDAY, Long range models struggle with it. We know that Friday evening could be the worst round of the two despite the intensity levels in the depictions. We’ll want to watch out come Friday evening with the first round!
FRIDAY EVENING STORMS
Storms will be developing quickly from to our west and roaring through the area from west to east starting early evening to late evening.
MORE STORMS LATE MORNING SATURDAY INTO THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING…
Storms will likely begin in the late morning to early afternoon Saturday. Notice the time banner on the future model radar system below.
Showers and severe storms will continue into the late afternoon and evening. Below image is showing around 4 pm Saturday.
Storms will likely move further to the east by late Saturday night into middle Tennessee and north Alabama and continue in those areas late Saturday night into early Sunday.
Below showing a few scattered storms around the low that could last into late night Saturday for west Tennessee while the main line will be pushing east.
NEXT SATURDAY’S OUTLOOK:
Indicating the shift through the day on Saturday with storms pushing more east by late Saturday night into Middle Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia.
This risks look higher with this system than the last and we’ll probably deal with more watches and warnings than we did with the last event. Like last time, Wind will be very gusty and high at times even away from the storms.
Severe weather may be coming for Saturday and Sunday for our region. High winds, severe storms, and a higher risk for tornadoes than we’ve had in a long while, so stay with WTWC, The West Tennessee Weather Channel for the latest on your weather ahead.
